How I work
I believe therapy is most successful when there is a good fit between myself and my clients.
One of my primary goals in working with you is to create a comfortable and safe environment
in which you feel free to share, explore and learn.
In our work together we will identify areas in your life in which you may feel stuck.
Collaboratively we will create a plan to help alleviate your discomfort while breaking down your
goals into manageable steps. Through an exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and current behaviors,
we will learn and practice effective ways for making change. An important part of treatment will be identifying
your strengths and understanding what is working well for you. While working together, you can expect that I
will be honest and open about our interactions and your treatment.
My primary method of treatment is talk therapy. I may also use other methods such as role-play, art
or play therapy, visualization/mindfulness, or skill development. I frequently use a systems approach in working
with clients which may mean including and collaborating with families, schools, medical settings and community organizations.
I integrate cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and psychoeducational therapies into my practice.
